Tomatoes are an abudant source of flavor to use as your condiment.  Whether a slice on a burger, or in a great pasta dish or a soup.  Low calorie so you can use more, but still remember, only 50 calories of a condiment per meal. One thin slice of tomato is about 10 calories.

Because of its high sugar content versus its fiber content tomatoes are rated average on both sections of the meter.  Too much consumption of tomatoes at one time on the Shibboleth program can cause the fat bus to pull in.  But using tomatoes in the proper portion over a period of time can and does help your long term health.  Just remember your bullet proof shield with portions, combinations and timing for perfect meals.
